Connect Sessionario to ChatGPT

The same address as for Claude, the same green sign-in page. Only the route there is more hidden in ChatGPT – and at one point you can lose half an hour. That point is right at the top.

About 5 minutes · once · as of 1 Sept 2026
What you need A Sessionario account and a ChatGPT account with Plus (or Pro, Business, Enterprise, Edu). Developer mode, which the connection runs through, is not in the free plan.

Set it up in the browser – then use it anywhere. The route goes through developer mode, and that only exists in the browser on a computer. After that the connection belongs to your account, not to the browser: it is there in the ChatGPT desktop app as well. So you do this once, in one place.
!

The one place where people lose time

At some point ChatGPT offers you “Advanced OAuth settings”, with a dozen fields: authorization URL, token URL, registration URL, scopes, PKCE, OIDC.

Leave it closed. Our server publishes all of that by itself, and ChatGPT reads it. You can see for yourself – at https://mcp.sessionario.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server you'll find exactly what those fields would contain.

We say this plainly because it happened to someone: ChatGPT advised him to type it all in by hand – and was wrong. It was all published already.

Since 1 September, “OIDC enabled” reads “This server did not advertise an OIDC configuration URL” and the checkbox is greyed out. That's exactly right – we're an authorization server, not an identity provider.

Turn on developer mode

In the browser on a computer: click your profile picture at the bottom left → Settings.

Then look for developer mode. Depending on the version it hides in different places – these have been reported so far:

Switch it on. Next to it you'll see ELEVATED RISK – that is OpenAI's warning about unverified connections in general, not about Sessionario.

In company workspaces an admin has to allow this first, under Permissions & Roles → Connected Data.

The settings under Security and login, the Developer mode switch is marked

The Mac app has no developer mode – which is why you set it up here. Using the connection works there afterwards. We lost an hour on this ourselves, because we took the two for the same thing.

2

Add your own connection

Open the plugin directory and click the plus sign (in other versions: Apps → Create).

Two entries, that's all:

Name:

Sessionario

MCP server:

https://mcp.sessionario.com

No trailing slash. Pick OAuth as the authentication method – not “none”. Then click Create.

Copy the address from here – a typo is the most common reason this doesn't work.

The New Plugin dialog with name, address and OAuth, the Create button is marked
On the right are the settings ChatGPT fetched from us. Nothing to change there.
3

Sign in to Sessionario

ChatGPT asks first: Sign in with Sessionario.

Then the green sign-in page appears – our page. That's how you know your password stays with us and never reaches OpenAI. Sign in with the Sessionario account your sessions live in.

The Sessionario sign-in page with the green Connect button marked
The heading says “ChatGPT – connect to Sessionario”. A different name there means you are in the Mac app – see below.
Read the green box once It says exactly what the AI may do – and what it may not. Three promises are in there, and they hold: sessions belonging to colleagues are never changed, a snapshot is saved before every change so you can restore it, and nothing is ever deleted.
4

Done

Sessionario now sits in the list, with the date and the address.

The finished entry showing connection date, address and OAuth
Under “Actions” it says “No app actions available yet” – that is normal and does not mean anything is missing. Even if “Refresh” reports an error: the real test is the chat.

Try it right away

In a new conversation – existing ones often don't know about the connection yet:

“Use Sessionario and show me my sessions.”
“In Sessionario, show me day 1 of my workshop in Essen.”
“Where are the breaks too tight in this session?”
“In Sessionario, create a two-day workshop on feedback conversations, 9 to 5.”

Say “Sessionario” explicitly the first time. Ask only “What sessions have I got this week?” and ChatGPT may read it as a calendar question and offer to connect your calendar instead. You can also pick the plugin beforehand, via the plus sign in the message box.

The thinking is paid for by your ChatGPT plan – Sessionario doesn't use up any credit for it.

?

If something sticks

Three things tend to go wrong – all three are quickly explained.

ChatGPT says it doesn't have the tools.
Usually an old conversation. Start a new one. If that doesn't help, check that developer mode is still on.

You set it up in the Mac app and nothing happens in the chat.
We ran into this ourselves. The ChatGPT app for Mac has its own MCP manager, and it belongs to Codex, the developer area. Whatever you enter there ends up with Codex – an ordinary ChatGPT chat doesn't see it.

The distinction that matters: the app isn't the problem, where you set it up is. Set it up in the browser – after that you can use the connection in the Mac app just fine. It belongs to the account, not to the window.

Note: German interface. If your screen looks like this, that's where you are. The connection is fine – it just belongs to Codex, not to your chat.

ChatGPT can't find my sessions.
Check that you signed in with the same Sessionario account the sessions live in. Archived sessions are invisible to the AI.

I want to disconnect.
Remove the Sessionario entry from the plugin directory. ChatGPT then has no access at all. Nothing changes in your sessions.

About the plans – contradictory, frankly

OpenAI's help page (as of late August 2026) says: full access including create and change only on Business, Enterprise and Edu; Pro read and search only; Plus isn't mentioned at all; Free no.

What we hear from practice differs – connections that work outside that list. So we don't know for certain what your plan allows, and we won't claim it. Try it; it costs five minutes.

Claude has none of these tiers: any account, any chat, reading and writing from the start, on your phone too.

How we know this We walked this route ourselves on 1 September 2026 – the pictures above come from that very run, and the answer was there in the chat at the end. A user had described the route to us beforehand; without him we'd still be looking. If it works differently for you: hello@sessionario.com, and we'll change it.

Did it work?

ChatGPT and the other AI providers change their menus constantly – often without notice. Everything on this page we clicked through ourselves on 1 September 2026. If your screen looks different, that is almost always why.

Two clicks help us more than any guess:

Both buttons only open your mail program – you see what goes out before it does, and can edit or cancel. We count nothing and set no cookies.
